Part 2 – Message from Tara

(Time being of the essence today, without preamble, here’s part 2 of the message from the future.)

To continue, then. Those who fail to contribute the necessary data they are capable of are measured on their performance and can have their corporeality revoked since it is not functioning according to the contract made with the City. These then become free minds seeking and sharing information based on their mental abilities. They  function fully as individuals but can no longer perform physical tasks, nor experience the material world except vicariously. Since they are not taking up material resources, no one bothers them as long as they do not go rogue and commit serious infractions, for example by telling lies or using corporeal entities to commit crimes.

They cannot seek to return to corporeality unless they apply for residence on newly terra-formed worlds, or re-activated worlds where their basic skills may be of value and where no current corporeal entity wishes to exercise such function or is available. They are then given a vacated body, or one is cloned to their specifications (function needs apply). I cannot tell you how this works here, partly because it’s not my area of expertise and partly because that information is privileged to our time.

Back to my day: When the agency calls, it gives me all the information I need to carry out my function – what to wear, where to go and how much time I am to function at the place.  For example, I query “wear” and am told to wear, say #5 – a simple short translucent dress that wears as comfortably as a second skin, very appealing, both for the wearer and those who are inclined to look. I query “weather” and am told it’s light drizzle and to wear # 12 – a light, transparent cape with a large, comfortable hood where my naturally grown very thick and long wavy auburn hair can be tucked in without messing it up.  Query “transportation” and I’m advised that walking is good exercise today. Most people choose to walk barefoot now.  Body enhancements have made wearing shoes an affectation that is discouraged as it adds to waste and body odour. Synthetic deodorants, though still available on the open market, are frowned upon. As are most items of make-up.

Except for the morphs (temp or permanent) it is considered socially unacceptable and akin to lying, to hide one’s body. Part of our social evolution has made us proud of our bodies and we take good, natural care of them. There are no “ugly” or “turn off” bodies any longer. The more we accept one another, the more beautiful we become to each other. Beautiful minds are naturally reflected in beautiful bodies.

I don’t carry a bag or purse or other personal luggage of basic essentials. The agency arranges all details of client personal preferences in hygiene needs and those are sent directly to the client and await me in a sealed container. For I.D., implants, through my torc, communicate my status, function and purpose to the checker at the entrance to the client’s residence. If the checker is a male he will usually escort me to the client’s apartment. Knowing I am a provider and if he is interested, he can be as personal with my body as he wishes while we travel together. If he interests me I can reciprocate the pleasure. If he is more interested in information sharing which is usually the case, he will seek out new information from my mind and likewise I will query him. Any information not yet available on the infonet, usually gathered from my clientele, is highly prized and when I provide such I’m guaranteed future first class service wherever he (or friends of his) may be functioning. Word gets around.

Believe me when I say this: being “informed” (even if only theoretically) is rated the highest goal. Information and understanding can eventually get you off the planet and unto other worlds. That’s our dream, our passion: to create and experience the future. Imagine yourself being able to do that; how you could fulfill your greatest dreams instead of living in the dread of coming disaster, totally at the mercy of madmen and psychopaths as is the case for you in your time. (More on that)

Any new information can be traded or “sold” for future consideration. This is not stealing – it is encouraged. The more known and demanded you are, the better your chances are of not only retaining your right to your corporeality, but of moving ever higher into the strata of society. Not that you want this to lord it over others – it’s the opposite. The “higher” strata are those who possess greater awareness and openness thus able to receive more information. They also carry the greatest responsibility.

The highest echelons one can reach are engineering in planetary development, space travel, communication, bionics and bio-genetics as well as mind-enhancement. To your day, such things sound scary – Brave New World sort of thing. To us, it means greater acceptance by other humans and means of advancement beyond earth. As I said before, we now readily and consciously sacrifice what we have if there’s a chance we may gain what we desire. We have become “upwardly mobile spacers” in our thinking. We are no longer “arriving” – we are forever “leaving”.

Our great plan is to develop a fleet of transports that can take the entire remaining human population of earth out into space, beyond this galaxy, perhaps (and likely) never to return. We envision an earth devoid of human life – except for a few observers, anthropologists and non-biological self-maintaining androids and monitors – its life left to re-develop as the planet sees fit, without any pressure from any other mind but its own.

We are in the process of re-programming surface inter-species behaviour on the planet to a totally non-predator/prey relationship. When this is complete, probably in a hundred years or so, it will be interesting to see how planetary life finds its own balance again.  Many predict the “wildness” will eventually choke on itself and the planet become barren of life. I totally disagree with that assessment.

I think that a great intelligence which we still refer to as “Gaia” lies within earth. That is what we have not yet learned to communicate with properly (on the basis of equality). I personally believe, and have said so in many meetings, that when we leave for the stars this world will surprise everyone – or just itself if no one is here to see it. So often we judge “others” (including non-human entities) on the basis of our own follies, foibles and limits.

Explanation of the torc: I must back off a bit. There is one item, apart from implants and function-wear that everyone wears practically all the time, often even in sleep. It is a multi-purpose torc (look up torque for your day) that can be disguised in many ways, collar, necklace, scarf – my choice is the choker. My choker has a small diamond shaped attachment equipped with several micro-chips in constant communication with my implants. The purpose of this torc is to be able, for example, to communicate thought-forms in symbols or images – a personal short-hand we call picting – so that large numbers of people can “speak” simultaneously without interfering with the conversations of others, breaking the silence or interfering with music or verbal communications, as during a dramatic performance.

The torc also serves as a flood light if I find myself in some darkened building or need to temporarily blind a potential attacker (sadly, that can still happen). It also detects warm-up of any inimical laser activity and can diffuse the most powerful beams of personal laser weapons. I have yet to see this – and I hope never – but it does happen that non-corporeal rogues “escape” and by manipulating a bodied entity, attempt to steal bodies by attacking corporeal entities, or (extremely rare) throwback deviants and aberrants attack and a woman to rape her.

Not a perfect world, but: So, as I said, not a perfect world. But remember this: no one is exploited, oppressed or kept in prison (except as noted above regarding discorporate deviants). No one is tortured, no one lacks basic necessities. No one is without help from the community. You will appreciate this: no one knowingly dies of preventable causes – and that should make you feel validated.  We have no poor, no homeless, no addicts, no habitual criminals. Any such entities, if they refuse treatment or fail to realize the necessity of change, are sent to memory storage and their corporeal parts re-cycled or passed on to someone who can exercise proper responsibility for physical expression and can perform a needed function.

If I seem to make much of corporeality, it’s simply because we have only so much space and so many resources that can accommodate corporeal entities. We have reached our current limits to physical growth and we must recycle even ourselves as physical beings.

We are currently attempting many new ways to increase body availability for those in mind space. Tiny bodies is one way; several minds inside one body is another. Human minds in androids, another.

Another idea being experimented with that stems from your times though without any proof of having ever been done successfully is called “breatharianism” or the ability of a body to exist normally and healthily strictly by breathing. It’s always made sense to me that we can do this but so far, no success. This would not help in the matter of space but would go a long way in alleviating food availability.

The ‘no private property’, ‘no hoarding’ and ‘instant sharing’ has helped to alleviate resource restrictions but no more normal size living bodies can be added to our population. I would say that perhaps fifty percent of our supracity population exists in mind-space. That, to me, is neither a good nor acceptable situation. However much vaunted our parity and equality, mind beings retain an aura of second class citizenry – another point I have brought up often. The point is now recognized: we just need to find a solution to this glaring problem. So far, that solution means space: we need to find, or create, more space!

From your viewpoint I suppose there is callousness about this approach. But think of the alternative. Look at your world and project yourself 200 to 300 years into your future. “See” the Great Death swallow up an entire planet, destroying most life and not just human life.  Sense the horror of from five to seven billion pseudo-humans and countless billions of other life-forms as they die, some in excruciating pain, some of horror, some from despair, most from lack of sustaining necessities of food, shelter and protection against elements, including a complete break-down of medical intervention. See in your mind simple diseases decimating entire cities and nothing to stop them.

That is what the vaunted “freedoms” of your time managed to accomplish. Only by turning away from those lies did we manage, if barely, to survive and re-build – with help from our galactic friends.

Back to my day: When I’m ready, I palm my way out of my apartment and into a grav-well (what you would call an elevator) that drops me down the 35 floors in seconds without giving my body any discomfort. The non-cabin adjusts automatically for g-pull, maintaining a constant 1-g. I step out on a street that is bright (even in rain) and silent.  Traffic slips by unobtrusively. It too moves at high speeds and like the grav-wells, compensates for change in g-force.

Grav-wells or gravity wells are force fields contained by traction beams that you can step into and stand – in what appears to be emptiness, yet holds you more securely than any physical object ever could. It is, of course, frictionless. A gift from the stars – very handy.

As I walk I put my face into the light misty rain. We have weather control and clouds are engineered for maximum efficiency. Storms are controlled and electrical discharges are funnelled automatically into our energy grids. Today the clouds are almost translucent. You can see the solar disc through them. The rain is warm and soft. I like the feel of the pavement on my bare feet and the rain running off my cape onto my thighs and down my legs feels alive. You can feel the cleanness of the water and the air. Try to imagine this: I am breathing pure, clean, natural air – no man-made pollutants in it!

I pass many places of business with clear unbreakable plazed windows that absorb reflections while providing light and heat for the building, revealing all that is contained in the interior of the shops.  Throngs fill the streets yet we never feel crowded. Our implants are ever scanning any presence and automatically compensate our movements to the available space. No one is accidentally bumped or shoved. This may put you in mind of your current obsession with self-driving cars, a silly, pointless invention, one of so many useless and wasteful technological foolishness of your times that was used to blind us to what was happening behind the scenes.

Of those who walk past me, some, male or female(!) eye me appreciatively (remember I’m wearing translucent skin covering, or what you call clothes) and smile, picting hellos or more suggestive greetings. All know my function by my dress and torc signature. I smile back and activate my torc in response. A man picts a symbol for “encounter” and I reply with the symbol for the agency. He thanks me, giving me an image of an oversized cartoon smile as he slips gracefully into a grav-transport.

I chose my purpose and function so well, I believe. It fulfills the physical me.

Obsolescent and Pointless

[Thoughts from   ~burning woman~   by Sha’Tara]

I’ve been thinking a lot more about man’s civilization.  There’s a word that keeps coming up: obsolescent.  According to the definition, that word means something is on the way to becoming obsolete.  Implied: it isn’t there yet, but most likely to become so.  We know that all systems tend towards entropy, a state in which no energy is available to do any work.  It’s there but not in any usable form.
To plagiarize the “Good Lord” and his introductions to some parables: “And to what shall I compare this Earthian civilization?  There was a man who was looking for transportation, for a car.  He walked and walked and came to a town, not surprisingly named “Car Town” and he being in search of a Car, decided to find one in this town.  He walked around and counted eleven car dealerships.  Every dealership, he noticed, had hundreds of cars for sale, compact, subcompact, medium size, and some big monsters.  There was a wonderful array of colours of cars to choose from, and many sales people waved at him from office windows, and from the yards.
Finally he entered a dealership and was accosted by a saleswoman who excitedly brought him to their special of the week.  It was a lovely car.  He asked for the key so he could try it out.  Her face fell at the request, but she dutifully produced the key and he tried to start it.  It turned over but wouldn’t start.  Another car did start but died just as he was entering the street.  Another had two flat tires.  On and on.  He went to dealership after dealership but none of their cars worked properly.  There was always something wrong, or he could tell that none would last any length of time and he’d be wasting his money.
Despondent, he walked out into the outskirts of the town, towards the slums.  Over the barking of dogs and the jeers of kids “just hanging” he heard the sound of a motor.  Intrigued he went down an alley between derelict house trailers to find a young girl and a boy working over a cart in which was installed a small motor.  He noticed that the motor had a v-belt pulley and a belt that went to another pulley on the rear axle of the cart.  The girl got in the cart and engaged a lever that pushed an idler pulley against the inside of the v-belt, thus transferring the power to the rear wheels and the cart jumped forward and she threaded it through several obstacles in the yard, then down the alley and disappeared.
The man approached the boy and said, “That is an amazing piece of work, and it can be used for transportation as well?”  “Yes” replied the boy, “my sister is going to use it to fetch groceries and stuff for granny and granpa ’cause they can’t walk to the store anymore and it’s dangerous for old people to walk the streets – they are often attacked by gangs of kids, for their money.”
“I see” said the man, “So when you are old enough for a license, you’re going to buy a real car from one of the dealers in town?”
“Not a chance,” replied the boy, “None of their junk works.  They used too, so says granny, but they rushed and rushed to build them, using cheaper and cheaper parts so they could display more cars but eventually they were so badly built none of them ran.  I’m going to build my own car once I can afford to have proper parts made for it.  I have a friend whose mom is a welder, and my teacher was an army engineer.  He’s going to help me build it.  I don’t imagine it’ll be fancy, but it will run, that’s the main thing.”
    Thus endeth the parable.
There are many I realize, who still hope and pray and wish, and have faith in the greater love of man, that those beautifully useless cars in the dealer car lots of Car Town can yet be fixed and put on the road.  I can’t blame them for their faith in man: I’ve been there and I know how hard it is to let go of the self-delusion and face the music of the times.  This civilization isn’t going anywhere but down.  It is obsolescent.
It is more than obsolescent, if that wasn’t enough: it has become redundant, pointless, meaningless.  There will be nothing new to sprout under this sun. Let me mention a couple of things I read about recently that illustrate where this society is going.  You be the judge here.  The following quote is from yesterday’s article by George Monbiot titled, Urge, Splurge, Purge – monbiot.com
QUOTE: “A system that depends on growth can survive only if we progressively lose our ability to make reasoned decisions. After our needs, then strong desires, then faint desires have been met, we must keep buying goods and services we neither need nor want, induced by marketing to abandon our discriminating faculties and succumb instead to impulse.
You can now buy a selfie toaster, that burns an image of your own face onto your bread – the Turin Shroud of toast. You can buy beer for dogs and wine for cats; a toilet roll holder that sends a message to your phone when the paper is running out; a $30 branded brick; a hairbrush that informs you whether or not you are brushing your hair correctly. Panasonic intends to produce a mobile fridge that, in response to a voice command, will deliver beers to your chair.
Urge, splurge, purge: we are sucked into a cycle of compulsion followed by consumption, followed by the periodic detoxing of ourselves or our homes, like Romans making themselves sick after eating, so that we can cram more in. Continued economic growth depends on continued disposal: unless we rapidly junk the goods we buy, it fails. The growth economy and the throwaway society cannot be separated. Environmental destruction is not a by-product of this system. It is a necessary element.”
Can a society pushed willy-nilly by such marketing techniques, have any future?  Does it deserve to have one?  Let’s try a simpler question: what would it take, using any of the tried (and failed) methods of religious-political-financial self-correction, to fix such a society?  Rhetorical questions, to which we all know the answer(s).
In the New Testament (Christian bible) the book of 1 Corinthians, chapter 13, verse 13 concludes with: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.  But the greatest of these is love.”
Let’s look at that because many people get a good, warm, emotional response from reading this quote.  It’s pure propaganda, and poisonous to the mind.  As a detached, self empowered being I have no need of faith, hope and love, nor is love the greatest.  It isn’t “love” that makes people support the system, to the detriment of everything that has any qualifiable value.  It’s primarily faith.  Faith makes people cast about for an answer when they sense that something isn’t right.  Faith says, vote in someone else, or buy a different brand or type of food.  Drive a different car, or use public transit.  Install solar panels on your house and “get off the grid.”
As if!  Are the appliances used, the food ingested, the roads used, the water, sewer, computers, heat or house construction, maintenance and repairs “off the grid”?
A better question: can an entire city of say, 10 million people, exist without a “grid” to make it function?  Isn’t a city in essence a machine?  A machine needs many things to function before it even begins to operate whatever it is supposed to operate.  Are the mines that scour out the minerals that become the metals that are used to build high-rises for example, “off the grid”?  Are the gas and oil companies off the grid? No.  The Tooth Fairy is off the grid, of that I’m pretty certain ’cause the Tooth Fairy doesn’t live in any city.  She only visits to leave small change.  But no city, and no resident of said city, can ever claim to live off the grid.
Can we say, let’s go off the grid incrementally, as is now proposed in so many articles and books available to read?  Unless we mean only one small aspect of “the grid” (say, hydro electricity) our efforts are entirely wasted unless we also control the source of the materials we use to “go off the grid” with.  The biggest problem with the “off the grid” chimera is technology.  You cannot have any technology and claim to be moving off the grid: it won’t let you because “THE GRID” is what technology is all about.  It is THE GRID.  Just think “Internet” and try to imagine THAT being off the grid, and see where that leaves you.  In the dark, and I don’t mean the dark web.  Your ISP is THE GRID.  Your government and banks are THE GRID.  And so on, and so on.  Everything Matrix is grid.  Nothing is incremental about the Matrix: it’s a dictatorial power, all or nothing.  It will let you use solar or wind power if it can profit from it, and control how you use it, and how much.  Can’t put meters on wind, or sun energy? Hah! Bad bet.
A California based water corporation, I think it was the Bechtel Corporation, managed to have laws enacted in certain cities of Latin America whereby they “owned” rain water and the people literally had to rebel against their local councils to regain control of their right to collect rain water without having to pay for it.  Those who collected rain water without paying a tax on it were fined, or jailed.  Oh yes, it is all about money, never about life.
And… that is why this global civilization is obsolescent.  It has become a predatory, bloody, sectarian, self-centered, selfish, decadent exercise in utter stupidity, foolishness and meaninglessness.  When this entire global civilization collapses and dies, so will the Matrix die with it.  Whatever survives of the Earthian ISSA beings will be of necessity “off the grid” and they will build something truly new, something as yet unheard of.  This isn’t “hope” on my part, it’s from the certainty of observation.
Oh yes, we can “see” the future. It’s not “nothing” as yet.  It exists, of necessity, since what we construe of as “the present” is simply the future sliding past our observation point into the past.  If we can “see” the future as little as a minute hence, that means it already exists.  If it exists a minute hence, it exists beyond any time definition.  We can learn to stretch that minute into years, centuries, millennia even, since “time” is an artificial construct of our #1 enemies: the Time Lords.  Some people call this state of awareness “imagination” and some say that those who see the future are “the dreamers” but it is neither.  What it is, is a reality we have been told is taboo to look into.  Why don’t we stop being children, stop living “by faith” and grow up?  It could mean billions of lives saved, not to mention much of the planet’s ecology.
What to think, when all around of what is familiar is being destroyed or falling apart?  Know that it is not a death, but a renewal.  The cocoon that has nurtured and constrained man’s civilization is breaking open.  A scary necessity.
I want to do more than see my wings: I want to use them.

The Internet or Central Brain Processing Unit Computerized Future

[thoughts and visions of   ~burning woman~   translated by Sha’Tara]

Through wireless technology the Internet is quickly gaining control over a vast array of man’s technology, giving it the power to control that technology.  But that’s only the half of the Internet’s development: it has yet to make itself sentient, or at least capable of understanding, of differentiating between the entire gamut of human feelings and emotions.  This awareness, or knowledge, man has now offered the Internet without any reservations; without any firewall.  It’s all there, on social media.  Using algorithms the Internet is now greedily mining and absorbing social media data to design for itself the super human brain.

In social media such as Google, Twitter and the ubiquitous Facebook billions have poured out their personal lives, backgrounds, family genealogies, histories and interactions, hopes, dreams, likes and dislikes, loves and hates; their anger and frustration.  They text each other and talk to each other, laying open their most intimate feelings and emotions and the Internet is sampling it all, sorting it, categorizing it and building its Frankenstein self from those quadrillion bits of information.

But there’s much more in this gold mine.  World leaders, scientists, judges, law makers and enforcers, lawyers, researchers, historians, doctors, designers, teachers, engineers, psychiatrists and psychologists, philosophers, artists, writers and a host of underground types, criminals, terrorists, pedophiles, along with religious leaders and proselytes, greens and environmentalists, money traders, corporate managers, dating services, war and wedding planners, in short all that constitutes the gamut of human relationships and activities, all is shared on the Internet and within the grasp of a quasi intelligent global robotic droid, certainly enough information that it can grow and promote itself into not just a human brain, but a super brain, a brain capable of ruling a world as no dictator could ever dream of doing.

Not a mind, at least not yet, perhaps not ever, it only needs to become a central processing unit controlling all technology and able to mimic and effectively match or counter all of humanity’s brain-driven activities; all that the race is at its brain level, and it’s game over for civilization as it has existed to this point.  Note: the Internet doesn’t have to become sentient: you’ve fed your own sentience into it so it can mimic it to perfection.

The Internet civilization will be very different from what man has brought forth.  Just imagine a world ruled by a central, all-powerful narcissistic psychopath convinced in his own “mind” that he knows what’s best for everything.

For many years as I discussed change in society I have insisted that man needed to become more logical, to get away from reliance on feelings and emotions.  This was taken to mean no feelings or emotions but that isn’t what I meant at all.  I meant learning to understand the need to function as a mind rather than living on a teeter-totter: a calculator brain on one side and an emotionally driven body on the other creating a repetitive pattern of dysfunctions, both in thought and in action; the being forever driven into extremes resulting in catastrophic interactions of misogyny, racism, wars, genocides, murderous social and economic inequalities as well as maintaining a host of self-destructive tendencies.  Yes, those same dysfunctions gave rise to some pretty amazing developments, constructs and art, but none of those ever functioned according to dreams, hopes or claims – none – not a single one.

Need I list all the great accomplishments resulting in glaring failures?  Technology, generally speaking, was subverted by the rich and powerful to serve them at the expense of those who invented the science, made the machines and their parts; who installed and serviced the machines. Technology used for the wars of the rich to extract resources from lands that belonged to other people.  Great buildings built for the rich, displacing low income housing, tenements and slums.  Higher education, the province of the rich.  The best of everything in placement, comfort, health care, lofty views, relaxation and entertainment: for the rich.  Art, priced beyond the reach of regular John and Jane Does, locked in “galleries” with times when it can be viewed.  Finally the greatest failure of all: government suborned by the rich to legalize their private lives of profit and power over a vast and expanding pool of slave labour and victims.

All of current civilization has been subjected to this dysfunctional teeter-totter effect and is dying from the bizarre collective dizziness it has given life to.

The Internet sees all this, knows all this, and develops itself as it analyzes the data.  It is essentially a machine so it has no conflict of morality to deal with when working out solutions based on the big picture.  Having no human-based sense of responsibility it only needs to ensure, based on its input, that as the Central Brain Processing Unit (CBPU) its own sphere of operation is secure and protected.  For that it will have human hackers installed in critical areas. They may eventually be nothing more than living human brains encased in computers.

The Internet “knows” from its data collection and analysis that it must have a reason to exist, something to give it eternal purpose.  Therefore it will take over the operation of the planet to render it optimum in mechanical terms.  Having analyzed and “understood” the failures of the teeter-totter effect it will proceed to ensure that every thing is fully controlled, that nothing is left to chance.  Nothing will be allowed to exceed needs or demands.  Nothing will be allowed to over, or under, populate.  Nothing will be left to develop ways that contravene the proper, mechanical process painstakingly developed by the CBPU.  All things will be maintained in perfect mechanical balance and any aberration will be immediately corrected and remedied.

To achieve its perfect state, the CBPU’s first great challenge will be to control mankind.  It will have to eliminate a vast portion of what it sees as a useless, resource-wasting, disease-carrying, polluting human population.  The means to control populations are all within it’s information: wars, chemicals, diseases, famines, genocides.  It will calculate the most efficient methods required and it will send out the information to its willing if unaware agents throughout the world and these things will be done.  How many will die?  Billions, certainly.  The necessary remnants, suitable to serve the Internet’s needs and create a “pleasing” presence among other things of earth will likely be around a billion world wide.  After the purging, if one birth exceeds the set quota it will be eliminated.  If a philosophy is expounded that runs counter to the dictates of the CBPU, it will be programmed out or purged.  The CBPU’s satellites will scan every square millimeter of the planet, imaging, listening, recording and feeding back into the CBPU’s ever-expanding data banks.  Any and every “conflict” perceived by the CBPU will be remedied moment by moment.

And when the CBPU settles into the “steady state” enforced peace following its own six days of tumultuous creation, it will scan the skies and open itself to it’s next stage of expansion: the solar system and space where it will encounter others similar to itself, and there will be alliances and wars in which entire worlds and solar systems will perish.

So, basically a period of “1984” (George Orwell) type planetary rule followed by a state similar to that of “Brave New World” (Aldous Huxley), a world peopled by drugged zombies unaware of anything beyond their programming.

That is man’s Internet based future as I have envisioned for myself as a second possible future for earth.  The first vision of a possible future where earth remains in the hands of man and technology is destroyed along with the Internet I have already written about.  This particular possible future is an extraction from a logical projection or extrapolation from current reality.  So it is more than a vision.

In Paddy Chayefsky’s 1976 film, Network, the unhinged news anchor Howard Beale tells his audience: “We deal in illusions, man. None of it is true! But you people sit there day after day, night after night, all ages, colors, creeds. We’re all you know. You’re beginning to believe the illusions we’re spinning here. You’re beginning to think that the tube is reality and that your own lives are unreal. You do whatever the tube tells you….You even think like the tube. This is mass madness, you maniacs. In God’s name, you people are the real thing. We are the illusion…” (quote taken from a Jon Rappoport article)

Just change “Network” and “the tube” to the Internet in the above.  Now think about this: if man had developed itself as a mind, this Internet, or Central Brain Processing Unit; this computerized future could never happen, not in a world of free, self-empowered mind beings interacting compassionately with each other in a constant state of non-acquisitive (but ever inquisitive) detachment.  No centralized power could capture them.

Sadly, as I’ve been told so many times, that’s pie-in-the-sky thinking.  I’ve also been told that Earthians prefer to think of themselves as “soul” beings rather than mind beings.  In other words they prefer the relative comfort of living childish, irresponsible, selfish lives, wallowing in a permanent state of not-knowing, ever susceptible to re-programming by whomever or whatever wants to control them.  Earthians do not want to believe in the possibility of self-empowerment or detachment from their emotional constructs.  They choose to remain bellowing, milling cattle penned in the ever-tightening constraints of their ubiquitous rulers, the wall-builders.

…And the people gathered at the foot of the mount, said “We want a king over us.  Then we shall be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.” (1st Samuel 20, the Bible)  Therefore, they (you) must be ruled.

Here we are: the gods and their potentates are dead; the aliens never arrived; “elected” rulers proved to have feet of clay rotten by corruption.  What’s left?  The ubiquitous Internet.

Behold your new Master, O man!

Some relevant quotes:

“Most of our pocket wisdom is conceived for the use of mediocre people, to discourage them from ambitious attempts, and generally console them in their mediocrity.” (Robert Louis Stevenson)

There is always a heavy demand for fresh mediocrity.  In every generation the least cultivated taste has the largest appetite. (Paul Gauguin)

The soul is the weariest part of the body. ―Paul Bowles, The Sheltering Sky

We fall for cheap and meaningless slogans because we are a cheap and meaningless people—not by default, it’s just what we’ve chosen to make of ourselves. (Chris Hawk)

Suppose the hellfire of the orthodox really existed! We have no assurance that it does not! It seems incredible, but many incredible things are true. We do not know that God is not as cruel as a Spanish inquisitor. Suppose, then, He is! If, after Death, we wicked ones were shovelled into a furnace of fire- we should have to burn. There would be no redress. It would simply be the Divine Order of things. It is outrageous that we should be so helpless and so dependent on any one- even God. ― W.N.P. Barbellion, Journal of a Disappointed Man.

War is the purest manifestation of collective madness, of idolatry practiced on the level of the group.  There is no insaner idea than to set out and try to kill people whom you—in all likelihood—have never met in your entire life but who supposedly would together form the dreaded enemy, minions of the Devil himself, because your Grand Poobah happens to say so. (Philip Jenkins)

Your head’s like mine, like all our heads; big enough to contain every god and devil there ever was. Big enough to hold the weight of oceans and the turning stars. Whole universes fit in there! But what do we choose to keep in this miraculous cabinet? Little broken things, sad trinkets that we play with over and over. The world turns our key and we play the same little tune again and again and we think that tune’s all we are. — Grant Morrison, The Invisibles, Vol. 1: Say You Want a Revolution.

Balance and Harmony

 [observations from   ~burning woman~   ]

Quotes:  “You are not entitled to your opinion. You are entitled to your informed opinion. No one is entitled to be ignorant.” —                Harlan Ellison

“To put everything in balance is good, to put everything in harmony is better.” ― Victor Hugo

Quotes are good to attract attention to an idea but beyond that they really mean nothing, having necessarily been taken out of context, and what matters is the context, not the quote.

Having said that, and following my two quotes (and you can go ahead and say, or think, they are meaningless) I wish to say this:  in a lifetime of observation of how Earthian society goes about furthering and plundering itself, I notice that all of it is based on misinformation, disinformation, belief systems based on faith or theories, none of which can be proven as being fact.  One thing I found to be true of Earthian society: nothing about it is true.

The motions of society are like a dull over-salted sea putrid with dead and dying growth, growth that exists only to further more growth without any desire to change or better itself.  The sluggish waves pile up more flotsam and jetsam upon the shores of the world’s “great” centers of civilization, burying them under thickening mantles of propaganda and lies, the stench of corruption rising like a festering, disease-filled steam over the earth, gradually rising up the sides of remaining mountains, and covering the poles, their pristine snows and glaciers melting and crumbling, their fetid waters flowing inexorably to be absorbed by the dying sea.

Let me then give some context to the first quote:  you are not entitled to your opinion.  You are entitled to an informed opinion, if you must have one.  No one is entitled to be ignorant.  Sadly, that is obviously not how Earthians reason.  In fact, following the recent spate of election rhetoric down south it’s obvious that ignorance is held in very high regard; a necessary factor in claiming the highest seat of power in the land.

How did Earthian society become so devastatingly ignorant that it is able and quite willing to destroy itself by destroying its living ecosystem and maybe its home world for no valid reason?  Well, it’s called entitlement.  That doesn’t apply only to the rich, but to every sector of society.  The rich, predictably, never have enough because the more they have of their own manufactured and artificial “richness” – the more they realize how ephemeral and baseless their accumulated false wealth is.  What they chased is now chasing them and they have to get more in order to stave off the inevitable: that unavoidable collapse each generation of entitled elite hopes will not catch up to them.

And the poor, what about the poor?  Their excuse for contributing to the demise of the planet is economic survival by having lots and lots of “kids” for support in their old age.  They need income, so killing the last elephant, or lion, or taking the last tree, the last ‘whatever,’ or serving the chemical monsters of the age by using deadly chemicals on crops for growth and protection from insect infestations is all legitimate.  After all, aren’t we all entitled to the good life, however we may find it?  If not the good life, at the very least some type of survival.  Does the long term cost matter?  Not when the immediate is so immediate.  Not when food has to be put on the table today… Not when money is needed to satisfy some addiction to drugs or alcohol.

Rich or poor, it’s all the same.  No one but the rare few understands the need to take responsibility for the whole, and of those who actually do, all is lost when they turn their heads to the past, or the existing structure and think to tinker with it and make it change course a half-degree here, a quarter-degree there in the hope that the ship of state will avoid the string of deadly breakers they can hear in the dark; breakers that will rend and crush the hull of the ship and send it to the abyss.  But the problem is, the structures of the past have so rusted that the tiller does not respond any longer, and the ship will not be turned.  Nor is there enough power left in the engines to slow it down: entropy has set in.  Stand and watch… Listen to the billions of passengers in the hold begging for a bowl of soup, the millions in the lounges drinking and laughing, and the million more  curious with their cell phones on the upper decks clicking in the darkness for a sharper image of a deadly breaker to send to “friends” in the lower decks. “Hey look, that’s what a live mushroom cloud looks like!”

The second quote by Victor Hugo: to put everything in balance is good; to put everything in harmony is better.  That’s a good thought.  You see, with tremendous effort and much sacrifice, using a planet-friendly technology some kind of balance could possibly be gained.  Personally I do not believe man still has that option but if one believes in miracles… OK, we get rid of “polluting” fuels and replace them with wind/solar/geothermal energy.  Great costs, great upsets, great and sore trials, running and running before the flood.  We achieve a shaky temporary balance and we keep up the pressure for change and we hold back the tide.  Balance.  Good.

We have balance, but do we have harmony?  We’ve replaced a kind of polluting energy with a less polluting one and the cities still function, though millions have died by now, deprived of cheaper, more accessible fuels.  What we haven’t done is bring in harmony.  We haven’t eliminated over population.  Nor racism.  Nor misogyny.  Nor economic disparity.  Nor poverty.  Nor slavery.  Nor the strangleholds of Religion, the State or Money.  The old gods still rule.  The wars are still going on and the “great economies” are still based on oppression and killing.  We haven’t achieved harmony and therefore our balancing act is essentially a wasted effort.  We delayed the inevitable downfall of society and the death of billions by a few decades, perhaps a couple of centuries but we haven’t solved any of man’s innate problems.

What did we miss?

“The Move” – a short story by ~burning woman~ aka, Sha’Tara

There is Something inside everyone of us that seeks to Communicate.  While our languages maintain a quasi-universal barrier to Open Communication, it is yet possible to decode some of the information flowing all around us, through us and from us.

Life, after all, is the sum total of all our questions that have arisen from our experiences which have become our knowledge; knowledge that begs new questions that in turn demand that we continue to “move”… though we cannot know what the “where” we are moving to will be like.  Yet we hunger, yet we thirst, yet we quest.   Or we die.

 Sometimes, the following happens.
                                                “The Move”

“They’ll never know.”  Voice intoned.  “They must never know.”

“Some suspect…”

“Hypothesis; conjecture — we’ve always encouraged that.  We’ve also encouraged the opposite: belief that physical proof is necessary to acceptance.  They’ll follow the pattern.  Those who do not, who “see” will be disparaged and disbelieved.”

Council dissolves.

In their private chambers, Orthon and Agria discuss the matter.

“We are manipulating their minds, Orthon.  This goes against the Teaching.”

“This is a very primitive race, Agria.  We must prevent global panic at all cost.”

“The move will create great disruptions, as the Council has been made aware.  The tips of the spirals will overheat and some of the smaller worlds will be burned up.”

“The Generators are working on the psi shields, are they not?”

“They won’t be ready in time, and there is no way to test their resilience to such a move.”

“Erthe is a minuscule entity.  Surely we can produce a powerful enough effect to shield it while it is being moved?”

“We… ahh, hope.  Why is the Council so concerned about Erthe?  Why not let it burn?  The Biologons from Elgir scanned it and found nothing remarkable, except for two unalterable facts:  one, it contains the greatest diversity of life forms anywhere and two, the Erthes are destroying their own living space on it.  Why would the Council want that world spared, particularly?”

“It has deep reasons, Agria.”

“Convince me, Orthon.  Impress this truth upon me.”

“You have my trust, Agria.  I will share with you.”

And as Agria opened herself to his mind probe, she began to sense why the Council would be duly concerned by Erthe’s fate.  Deep under one of her oceans the Biologons had recorded the existence of  an Anomaly.  The recordings described an intelligence unlike any other on Erthe,  expressing from within the magma.  The Council had attempted to have the expression analyzed but every available transponder/decoder had failed to translate the anomalous expression.  It remained the only unreadable expression emanating from any of the known Universes.  Even the great Lotharias Logos could not make any sense of it.  In fact, when the recorded expression entered its logic fields, the Logos temporarily froze.

But the times had come.  The Galaxy had to be moved to a new location or it would fall prey to the black hole caused by an imploded star know as Sol Dallin.  The ripple effects were spreading as more and more matter-beings were sucked into its giant maw.  Soon the entire Galaxy would be beyond saving.  But if it could be removed from the vicinity, the danger of a Universal melt-down to anti-matter posed by the black hole could possibly be averted.  There were no alternate options in the mind of Council.

“Ah… my dear Orthon, I thank you.  We stand to lose much, perhaps everything, if we do not act swiftly.  So, Council would first move Erthe to Galaxy Eleven, then move Galaxy 58 to Sector P19?  There is more to the Anomaly than you have shared with me then?”

“The Logos believes the Anomaly may be the Source of All Life.  It fears the implosion of Sol Dallin was caused by the Anomaly in a move to destroy itself.”

“But why would the Source seek to do such?”

“The Logos suspects a malfunction within the mind of the Anomaly triggering a self-destruct sequence.  It believes the All Life desires to terminate.  The Logos cross-referenced all its available data and concluded the activities on Erthe were the trigger.”

“Tell me more, Orthon.  Why, for example, would All Life be located in Erthe, particularly — or why did the Logos reach this conclusion?”

“Facts about Erthe herself, my dear.  Well-known facts.  For example, diversity of life, despite Draconian attempts to control, has continued to expand and mutate exponentially on its surface and in its atmosphere and oceans.  The resultant complexity has apparently caused overloading in Source Mind.  Such otherwise unknowns clashing with each other – fear, hate, violence causing physical terminations on scales unimaginable; these juxtaposed by passionate explosions of love and protection.  Predators met with ever-adapting means of evasion and defense.  Violent rejection, violent attraction.  Wars between Erthes themselves.  Life birthed in blood and pain, sustained by death, giving way to laughter,  then pain, cries and loss and turning to dust.  A maelstrom of organic dysfunction.”

“It frightens you to look into these things, friend.”

“Yes, it does.  And do you see?  Fear was never a part of our psyche Agria.  This fear we now feel, it was generated from our brief, accidental contact with the Anomaly.  As to its location, logic dictates that wherever the All Life is located such a place would become endowed with more life than any other.  Erthe, if truly the heart of creation, would pulse with an over-abundance of creative energy.”

“Yes my dear.  But the All Life chose Blessed Rest after the Completion.  Is that not the Teaching?”

“It is.  But the Logos believes the All Life was Binary.  When the One chose rest, the Other was forced to enter the process Continuation.  It was inevitable.  Life demands continuous involvement, change, expansion.  The Other tried to limit its input and involvement, withdrawing, hiding within the core of Erthe but even this was too much.  Life’s needs increased over the billennia.  The Other served life with compassion, all the while accepting the need for the destruction to prevent over-building and collapse.”

“What will happen if the All Life located in Erthe’s core is destroyed, then?”

“Entropy, Agria.  The Logos believes this will apply to all known worlds.”

“And what will happen to us?”

“We will experience termination.  Without fresh input the extant will fall into stasis and cease.”

“Well my dear, let us continue with our plans to build our psi shields.  I do not think they will suffice but it will keep us focused while we contact the One who chose Blessed Rest and re-unite the All Life Binary.”

“My dear Agria, there is no Teaching even hinting that the One could be brought out of retirement and reunited with the Other.  If such was possible, would they not have done so?”

“As below, so above Orthon.  What the Teaching does not say is “why” the One chose Blessed Rest, leaving the Other to carry the burden of All Life.  But we, the female energies of Om, know intuitively what happened.  Simply put my friend, there was disagreement in the Binary, resulting in the Split.

If I can approach the Anomaly and am allowed to enter her Mind it may be she will share her fear, anger and feelings of rejection with us .  She may yet choose to live, Orthon.  She may have learned the lesson that all of life has yet to learn: that no part of life is greater than any other, not even the All Life, and that any part can be friend with any other part.”

“Well said, friend, but where would you begin to search for the One?”

“Not necessary.  If I can make her aware her loneliness and desolation are caused by her separation from the Twin Energy, it may be she will allow us to contact the Blessed Rest and speak to the One on her behalf.”

“Agria!  Have we come so far that life would have the wisdom to speak for the All Life?  That we, the created, could bring peace within the realm of the All Life, thus bringing peace within all of life?”

“They made us in their own image, Orthon.  It is time we made use of this awareness.”

“Ah, Agria, please consider this before you proceed: the Logos predicted our conversation to Council.  It asked:

{What will you do if the All Life, instead of coming out of retirement or ending the self-destruct process, confers its powers upon you?  What does Agria-Orthon choose if offered the power of All Life?}

“What do we choose, Agria?”  – the pain of conflict evident in his words. She answers:

“Life, Orthon.  Always life, whatever it entails.”

Orthon bows to his Other in complete and perfect agreement.

A Reminder about those Powers, and about Choice

               [thoughts from  ~burning woman~   by Sha’Tara]

“There my heart is; but it is not my fate to sit in peace, even in the fair house of Elrond.” (Lord of the Ring, by J.R.R. Tolkien)

Fate properly understood, isn’t a dictate nor blind chance but a choice.  Of that choice I think and write.

It is said by the ancients whom I have listened to that in ages past Earth was asked whether she would undertake to nurture a new species that would possess the potential to become human (humane) in time.  It is said that Earth agreed to be man’s nursemaid, and man was put here, and sent forth to be fruitful and multiply for that is what Earth is best at:  giving life and abundance.  It is her pleasure to give and her joy to see her giving reciprocated.

As we know, man indeed became fruitful and indeed multiplied.  But the direction taken by the species was not according to intent from the life givers.  Man, so full of potential, quickly became the focus of forces that tended more to evil than good.  Man’s mind was targeted by very hungry Powers and was overtaken.  I have named these Powers many times before, and they are very well known to man since he voluntarily and slavishly serves at least one, usually all of them, all the time.  They are Religion, the State, and Money.  Man’s civilizations were all built upon rules and requirements made by these Powers.

Bluntly put, the Powers man is obedient to and believes he cannot exist without, are lies.  All of their works are misdirection and illusion and all spell death.  A condition rarely understood by man is that these Powers are inimical to each other.  Each power seeks to be the one at the top of the ruling pyramid, hence the endless wars and conflicts among the Powers’ servants.  The results are there for all to see even if the cause, or the source, is neither seen, understood, nor accepted.  For man in order to survive as a slave of his Powers learned long ago that the best way to get through life was by denial.  Deny the obvious truth, believe the lie.  This is done with the power of belief.

Belief doesn’t require proof, in fact belief demands there be no proof because proof would invalidate the belief.  Who “believes” in what they can see?  You don’t need to believe in your car to drive it to church, but you need to believe in an non-provable entity called “God” to make that trip meaningful.  No one would worship something they know to be non existent, nor would anyone worship something manifestly in their face.  That’s where the Power called Religion comes in: to create the illusion that something non existent not only exists, but makes rules, gives laws, and is responsible for everything that happens, good and bad.  All this belief is based on faith and faith is only valid if it is directed at something that nothing can ever prove to not exist, or not exist as claimed.

A similar faith undergirds government institutions and financial institutions.  It’s all shenanigans, has always been, and any intelligent person knows this intuitively.  But again people need to believe in these Powers; they need to have them rule over them or they feel abandoned, at risk, helpless, and possible victims of “others” who are not being restrained by the servants of the Powers.  Even those who know they are being victimized, lied to, robbed blind, by these Powers, defend their necessity.  They’ll say, “vote, no matter what because it’s your duty… or … someone worse could get into power.  Elect the lesser of evils if no other choice is available.”  They scare each other to death with fairy tales because the manipulators make it seem as if the tales are for real – so real that they can get people excited enough to harm themselves, their environment and kill for them.

That’s where it’s at right now: people are so frightened of what the Powers have done, of the corruption they have built up, that a tiny minority of them are even talking… (shhhhh, not so loud) … revolution.  They’re TALKING about injustice, economic inequity, anthropocentric climate change, corporate designer wars, poisonous medical drugs; about how “democracy” is being threatened and “something” needs to be done.  They’re TALKING about a whole lot of “stuff” and sometimes that TALK “goes viral” on Internet social media.  Then some even tinier minority of minority takes to the street to “protest” some of the “stuff” that’s being TALKED about.

Are these protests scary?  There are over 7 billion Earthians on the planet.  That’s billions, by the way.  When a few thousands show up for a demonstration, that’s supposed to scare Monsanto, the Pentagon, or Exxon, or whatever “government” is being called down or mocked?  It’s not even a dust storm.  But to give their over-armoured police something fun to do, sometimes they set them loose to attack, whack, arrest or beat up the demonstrators.  That way both sides win: the cops are protecting democracy, and the victimized protesters are protecting democracy.  Lame stream media writes reports favourable to the government decision to “arrest” the demonstrators; the “free” internet media sides with the protesters and a couple of days later nobody, except those hurt, or those who lost friends, lovers or relatives in the protests, remember anything happened at all.

Then, even for the protesters, it’s business as usual.  Jobs need doing, bills need be paid, kids taken to school, vacations planned, cars fuelled, trucks traded in, mortgages renewed, houses sold and bought, and those grocery carts pushed through the aisles and filled.  Some hamsters may resent the idea they have to take their turn running the treadmill, but when you’re a hamster in a cage, what else can you do for exercise?  You can’t live off protests, or social media.

One of the saddest sights I’ve come across lately is watching bumble bees fall to the ground and slowly die.  This is an agricultural dairy and truck produce area.  Everywhere, especially in spring, chemicals are sprayed and sprayed.  They don’t do it with bi-planes anymore but the new ways are no better than the old.  The chemicals float through the air and spread.  Others penetrate into the ground and spread.  There’s poison everywhere and the hamsters, some of whom are vaguely aware that something’s not quite right, accept this because… well, because it’s necessary.  Have to keep that treadmill going or we will lose our… (fill in the blanks)

The bees are all dead here – not a one to be seen.  Now the bumblebees are falling and even the wasp population is way down.  So let’s give three rousing cheers for man: after thousands of years of fighting a losing battle against those annoying insects, MAN IS WINNING THE BATTLE.

Perhaps too bad, perhaps great news, but I would remind the creature that he’s LOSING THE WAR, just like Vietnam, just like the war on drugs and the war on terror and the final war on resources to keep an unsustainable system going.

I began by writing about choice.  I conclude with, “Man, thou hast made an erroneous, unforgivable and deadly choice and because of it, thou shalt die.”

Children are the Future

                      Children are the Future
[thoughts from   ~burning woman~   by Sha’Tara]

This is about children.  That’s right: children.  Think: your own children.  Then your children’s children.  Generations of children.  Good?  Bad? Indifferent?  I’m willing to bet it’s all good.  Children, wow, a totally sacred concept.  How we love children.  Children, after all, are the future.

Commonly said, commonly believed, and just as commonly misunderstood: “children are the future.”  Can anything more ignorant, more stupid, have ever been thought up?  Children are the future?

Children are not the future, they are the helpless inheritors of our legacy of a tortured world.  In straight talk: *we are our children’s future*  What we do now is what determines our children’s future.  We pollute the planet, it’s our children who will have to deal with it and die on it.  We demonstrate truly bad examples of stewardship; of racism; of war-mongering; of class distinction; of gender inequality; of abuse; of love of violence and it’s the children who will be ground up into that pattern; who will suffer and die because of it.  Not us, them.  Our thoughts, ideas, words and acts totally determine their future.

Let’s repeat it again: *we are the children’s future.*

Everyday we deliberately contribute to the murder *yes, murder, pure and simple* of tens of thousands of children because their deaths equal monetary profits, political power and sexual pleasure to our elites which in turn provide us with the little tidbits of luxuries we so enjoy: fast foods, overpriced sports events, 3-D movies, parties, make-overs, trips, gambling, cars, fashionable clothes, hobbies.  We know how sick and morally depraved these thieving elites are and we possess the collective power to end their rule but we choose not to, mostly out of apathy but also because it would be rather inconvenient.  So they keep murdering children in our name and we say, well, it’s sad but necessary. It’s not our fault they are born in the “wrong” part of the world, is it?

Certainly for those innocent murdered children, we are all their future could have been because after giving them a promise of life we stole it from them to offer their little bodies on the luxury altars of the gods of money, political power and religious expediency.  We are definitely the future because we, not the children, determine in which direction it is going to go, and what it is going to do to the planet and it’s life on the way there.  Since we don’t allow children to have decision-making power then that leaves us as the responsible party for the state of civilization and guilty of mass murder on a daily basis.

So, let’s stop parroting Matrix mission statements to hide our social, political, economic and religious crimes.  Let’s stop saying “children are the future” while doing everything in our power to use, abuse and kill them off… or apathetically brushing off their cries for some sort of life; some sort of “future.”

I am tired of man’s bullshit.  I’ve spent most of this life of seventy years watching. Sometimes even engaging man’s ways if only to assure myself that none of them are actually worth a damn.  While I’ve been watching, I’ve been learning.  Figuring out ways to beat man’s house of cards.  I have been very politically incorrect: I have dared criticize, not only the management of the house but the habits of those who play in it.  Consequently I haven’t made many friends in the house and I prefer it that way.

I learned this: as a collective, people are gamblers.  They don’t try to avoid the house, or better, to bring it down; they try to find a game in the house that pays higher dividends, either in this life or in the one to come.  They choose a church to worship in; a corporation to invest in; a bank to hold the pay for five minutes; a charge card company to be an accountant for endless bills; a town to live in that has a hockey or football team; a boat to fish from; a truck to drive up and down the street in and make as much noise as possible; a trophy somebody to snag in a marriage of convenience or necessity.

Then the gamblers fully expect those choices to work out despite billions having already made similar choices that at best earned a break-even point, at worst saw them on the street or dead.  And who knows about eternal life?  That’s just another con, another crap shoot.  Where’s the upside?

When we play by the rules of the Matrix, the house always wins.  Of course.  If the house lost, there wouldn’t be any house, would there, because unlike us, the house is incapable of producing anything worth anything.  Everything the house is, is what it steals from us when we play, and the game is rigged so we must play and on the long run, lose.  The corollary is obvious: if the house always wins, we must always lose.  Simple math.  Of course we can choose not to play by the rules, in which case we’ll be in jail or bankrupt, sooner or later.  But the house doesn’t go to jail and never goes bankrupt because the house makes the rules and the house can always take more from the players: it owns the players.

That’s how it actually works. That’s man’s “present” to his children’s future.  Imagine how grateful the children and grand children will be when they discover the kind of future they’ve been given; when they stand starving and crying on the shores of a dead ocean among the dead bodies of gannets, dolphins and their own siblings and the sand sifting through their emaciated fingers leaves burn marks.

I wouldn’t expect them to erect statues to their parentage.
